The science behind breathwork

I felt exhausted today….I collapsed on my sofa

July 18, 2025

Today, when I got home from work, I collapsed onto the sofa on my terrace—and couldn’t get up.
Not physically. Not mentally. I just… couldn’t.

My legs were heavy, my head spinning.
I’d spent the day listening to people share painful stories—about being overlooked, mistreated, undervalued at work.
I always aim to hold space, not absorb it… but today, it soaked in.

My mind started chattering:
“Catherine, come on. You know this isn’t how to relax. This isn’t helping. Move.”
But I couldn’t. I stayed there.

Eventually—slowly—my will became stronger than my feelings.
I stretched. Did a few yoga postures. A headstand on my special chair.
Gradually, my body softened. Still not quite myself, I went out for a walk.

Into the woods of beautiful Malcantone, here in Ticino.
At first, it was hard to be present. But step by step, nature worked its quiet magic—until something shifted.

Energy returned.
Presence returned.
Gratitude returned.

And then—a fox. And a deer.
As if nature wanted to say: Welcome back.

So why am I telling you this?

Because all the breathwork, meditation, and mindset tools I share remind me that while vision and focus are vital…
The will matters just as much.

The willingness to act. To do.
Without that, nothing moves.

One of my greatest teachers, Bob Proctor, always said:
“You must keep the vision. Focus on what you want. Energy flows where attention goes. But you also need the will to act. Without action, nothing happens.”

After a long day at the office, the sofa may feel like a refuge—
But it rarely brings true restoration.

So many people tell me:
“I don’t go out anymore. I’m too tired to move. I used to do sport or see friends. Now I just crash.”

But crashing isn’t recovery. It only deepens the fatigue.

Movement is a key element.
We need to restore balance.

And often, that begins by simply getting up—even when we don’t feel like it.
The first step is always the hardest. But it’s worth it.

For our wellbeing.
For our health.
For our happiness.

So next time you feel too tired to move… try. Just try.
Everything is possible.
But it starts with a little bit of will. 🙂
